Rosebank 1991/2008 Cadenhead’s

November 26, 2010

A nice straightforward dram with a good balance of sweetness, fruit and spice, but certainly not one of the best Rosebanks out there. – Rating: 81/100

The colour suggests a sherry monster, but already the nose is lacking depth. You can well taste the PX sherry but the whisky seems to be missing. A failed attempt to save an inferior cask with a strong finish. – Rating: 73/100

Benriach 1990/2007 A.D. Rattray

The sherry is not very obvious, so it could have been a fino cask. A very pleasant dram, rather light and complex at the same time. – Rating: 85/100

The taste reminds me of German Bratapfel, an oven baked apple with a filling of nuts, raisins and spices that is usually served around Christmas. Quite complex and quite enjoyable. – Rating: 84/100

A very nice costal malt that reminds me a little of some Sprinbanks. It is quite mild but pretty complex and a delight to enjoy – Rating: 86/100

A perfect after-dinner malt when you want that extra little luxury, full-bodied and complex with concentrated flavours. – Rating: 91/100

Highland Park 1985/2002 – Adelphi

Very little noticeable peat, the palate could be a bit fruitier for my taste, but still very pleasant. – Score: 85/100

Praised by many, but I was disappointed. Perhaps there was something wrong with the sample I recevied, I don’t know. You don’t notice that this is a 17 yo, might as well be a 12 yo. Almost like a cross between classic Islay and Lowlands. – Score: 73/100
