A surprisingly rich and powerful malt that can take a bit of water. My favourite of the younger Glenfiddichs. – Rating: 86/100

Springbank 1995/2011 Hart Brothers

May 6, 2012

A nicely flavoured but very much toned down whisky that is reluctant to give away its secrets. – Rating: 74/100

Springbank 1995/2010 A. D. Rattray

April 26, 2012

This dram has a very impressive nose and nice flavours, but palate and finish are just too weak to deliver what the nose promised. – Rating: 84/100

Clynelish 1995/2011 Aberdeen Distillers

April 9, 2012

A malt that has some quite nice flavours but it’s all over much too soon. – Rating: 79/100

Tobermory 1995/2011 Aberdeen Distillers

April 8, 2012

The nose is actually pretty nice. You may consider to smell on this malt only. – Rating: 74/100

Glengoyne 1993/2008 Cask 845

March 8, 2012

Full-bodied and rich in flavour but the wood influence is quite prominent. – Rating: 84/100

Glendronach 1996/2011 for Taiwan

February 27, 2012

There is obviously a little sulphur involved that manifests iself as smoked fish for me. Other maniacs didn’t like it quite as much, but I love this dram. – Rating: 93/100

Tobermory 15 yo

For a sherry finish this malt is a bit feeble. The overall character is pretty nice but it could benefit from a little more oomph. – Rating: 74/100

Glenmorangie Artein 15 yo

February 12, 2012

Surprisingly gentle, to the verge of feeling watery. The whisky steps into the background here. But it’s a nice dram, not more, not less. – Rating: 83/100

Glenlivet 1995/2011 Signatory

December 17, 2011
Thumbnail image for Glenlivet 1995/2011 Signatory

A rather rich sherry dram with already quite a bit of wood for its age. The finish could be a little longer, though. – Rating: 84/100

Bowmore 1995/2010 Whisky-Fässle

December 12, 2011

This rather typical Bowmore has only a slight sherry influence, probably from a refill cask. All flavour elements are very well balanced and make it a highly anjoyable malt. – Rating: 88/100

Longmorn 15 yo 1990 The Whisky Society

September 16, 2011

This really is a nice composition of flavours, well-balanced, nothing stands out. It needs a bit of water. – Rating: 84/100

Matusalem 15 yo

September 11, 2011

Rather sweet, but it is kept in balance by the gentle wood spices. A nice rum that is a bit on the sweet side and doesn’t show its age too much. – Rating: 81/100

Linkwood 1991/2006 Gordon & Macphail

This is a very fine sherried malt with a gorgeous nose. The palate is just a touch too much on the sweet side to be truly outstanding. – Rating: 86/100

Benriach 15 yo “Solstice”

May 30, 2011
Thumbnail image for Benriach 15 yo “Solstice”

A rich and complex malt with a well-done finish that is just strong enough not to overwpower the spirit. – Score: 85/100

Glencadam 15 yo

May 20, 2011

The subtle aromas of this new version of the Glencadam 15 don’t give the palate too much of a challenge, but overall this malt is rather pleasant. – Rating: 81/100.

Glenfarclas 15 yo

February 10, 2011

Quite a dry sherry dram with rich aromas and a full body. The barrel char smokiness of the finish is almost a little too strong, though. – Rating: 85/100

Dalmore 15 yo

February 4, 2011
Thumbnail image for Dalmore 15 yo

This is a rich sherried dram as could be expected of Dalmore, but for my taste it’s a bit too much on the dry side to be fully enjoyable. – Rating: 81/100

Glenfiddich 15 yo Solera Reserve

January 28, 2011
Thumbnail image for Glenfiddich 15 yo Solera Reserve

A very enjoyable malt made using the solera system known from sherry. It is very well balanced and rich in flavours. – Rating: 84/100

George T. Stagg 2009 Release

December 20, 2010

A top class bourbon that can be enjoyed neat but deveolps its full complexity only after the addition of water. Many flavours are blending into a continuum that you don’t do justice by dissecting it. – Rating: 92/100
