Glenesk 1982/1997 Cadenhead’s

March 25, 2011

A very spicy malt with an impressive nose. But on the palate there seems to something missing to balance out the spiciness. – Rating: 81/100

Highland Park 1996/2010 Glasgow’s Whisky Festival

March 18, 2011

This rich and flavoursome malt has that waxy character you’d usually expect from a much older malt. The peat is there but only in the background. – Rating: 86/100

Caol Ila 1995/2009 James MacArthur

March 14, 2011

The sherry adds a nice and slightly sweet fruitiness to this Caol Ila. A fantastic and strongly flavoured dram that should be enjoyed in small sips. – Rating: 88/100

This malt was aged in a refill cask that didn’t have much strength anymore to contribute to the flavour. No real flaws but rather unimpressive. – Rating: 76/100

Glenlivet 1994/2009 Adelphi

January 2, 2011

This sherried Glenlivet needs some water to calm it down. Quite richly flavoured overall, but the nose is a bit pungent and the palate lacks an aromatic counterpart to the spices. Good, but not great. – Rating: 82/100

An Cnoc 1995

November 9, 2010

A very sippable malt with a well- rounded bouguet of aromas. nutty and fruity flavours dominate. – Rating: 82/100

Glen Keith 1995/2009 Dun Bheagan

September 28, 2010

Quite a pleasant malt from a closed distillery. It has quite a bit going on on the palate but is approachable enough to serve as a relaxing dram just for sipping away. – Rating: 84/100

Speyside 1995/2009 “Der Whisky”

September 16, 2010

A very nice fruity malt that can take (and needs) quite a bit of water. In a way both smooth and spicy at the same time. This forum bottling is a dramatic improvement from previous year’s Glen Spey. – Rating: 84/100

Clynelish 14 yo

Overall: This malt has a very pleasant nose. The palate is quite complex but it would be even better with a little less wood influence. – Rating: 81/100

Another fine malt from this often overlooked distillery. It is both gentle and complex at the same time. A great aperitive whisky to open up your senses. – Rating: 84/100

Glencadam 1991/2006 C&S Dram Collection

March 10, 2010

Nice and well balanced, much more complex than the very pale colour suggests. – Score: 84/100

Mannochmore 1992/2006 Cadenhead

March 6, 2010

This is sherry gone crazy, just too much of it in my opinion. The chemical nose puts me off as well. But I am sure some will love this dram. – Score: 75/100

Scapa 14 yo

A bit too “plain” for my taste. I can’t stop thinking that there is something missing in this whisky. – Score: 73/100
