The sherry cask adds a slight fruitiness to this Laphroaig that is in perfect balance with the trademark medicinal peat. Very delicious! – Rating: 91/100

This single cask bottling feels like the standard Benromach 10 yo on steroids. I like the the touch of sulphur that is beefing up this already very rich whisky even more. – Score: 86/100

Many peated malts have a distinct “bacon nose”, not this one. Instead it has the strongest taste of bacon I have ever experienced in a whisky. I love bacon, and I love this whisky. – Rating: 90/100

Bowmore 11 yo “Vom Fass”

At a higher botttling strength this unusual bourbon cask Bowmore could really excel. At 40% it can only be described as decent. What a pity. – Rating: 81/100

Not as medicinal as the reular expressions in favour of a nice citrus fruitiness. The 2010 Cairdeas is a bit unusual but very enjoyable nonetheless. – Rating: 87/100

Benriach 1994/2005 Heavily Peated Signatory

An amazing peated Speysider. I think it can be best described as “clean peat”. Without the maritime character of the Islay malts but with a distinctive medicinal character that comes close to that of a Laphroaig. And yet it is surprisingly smooth. What a great whisky! – Score: 90/100
