Fortunately the finish of his inexpensive single cask whisky is rather gentle. The delicate smokiness adds more depth to an already fairly complex dram. – Rating: 85/100
After my recent disappointment with the current regular 10 yo I am happy to report that Laphroaig is back to old (cask) strength here. It may not be the most complex of batches, but it perfectly captures what has gone missing in so many recent bottlings of this distillery – Rating: 88/100
Everything is very well put together in this whisky. It is round and strong but still delicate with perfect balance of all elements. This is Scotch whisky as it should be. – Rating: 87/100
The current Laphroaig 10 feels like Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water” played by an Easy Listening big band with marimbaphone and string section. – Rating: 82/100
The famous waxy mouthfeel of Clynelish is very prominent here, together with a slight woody driness. This is a very good alternative to the original 14 yo bottling. – Rating: 87/100
Definitely an improvement over the older version. It has full flavours and a strong body, the spices are quite prominent, though. Needs a bit of water. – Rating: 85/100
I have read many good reviews about this new Tamdhu standard bottling, but I cannot become friends with it. There is just too little in there to pick up. – Rating: 67/100
A very pleasant entry-level malt from a distillery often overlooked, approachable and well-balanced with a nice mixture of fruity and spicy flavours. – Rating: 84/100
With the nose of a peat monster that takes no prisoners and a sweet but dry palate that is dominated by spices, this malt is not for the faint of heart. But delicious it is. – Rating: 86/100
The small cask maturation creates strong wood spices that almost overpower the spirit. Luckily it was bottled soon enough, so we can still enjoy a very nice dram. – Rating: 86/100
