Bottlings

Craigellachie 1983/2011 Scott’s Selection

February 24, 2012

A nice whisky for those who like subtle drams. The character is a bit middle-of-the-road but quite pleasant nontheless. – Rating: 84/100

Craigellachie 12 yo Cask Sample

May 28, 2011

It is very difficult to pick out specific aromas on the palate. The whisky has a waxy and foll-bodied character but the rather odd flavours are probably not to everyone’s liking. – Rating: 79/100

Craigellachie 1994/2007 Cadenhead

February 25, 2010

I’m not a big fan of herbal malts, but this one is really nice. The complex aromas need some time to develop, though. – Score: 85/100

Glenfiddich is one of the biggest Scottish distilleries and it was the first one that actively marketed single malt whisky on a global basis. I decided it would be foolish not to pop in and have a look around.

The first event I booked for the Spirit of Speyside Festival was a tour of Speyside Cooperage. It is located right outside Craigellachie, just a stone’s throw away from the distillery.

After my journey to Islay in May 2010 I thought it would be only consequent to also visit the other whisky focal point in Scotland, Speyside. The Spring Festival 2010 is taking place from 28th April to 2nd May.
