Not as fruity as the Double Wood, the second entry level bottling of Balvenie is more on the sweet and spicy side. It’s an enjoyable dram, but I prefer the former. – Rating: 82/100

This whisky has a marvelous nose, the palate is a bit weaker but still quite complex. Not at all “woody” despite the name. Very good return for the price. – Score: 86/100

Glenfiddich is one of the biggest Scottish distilleries and it was the first one that actively marketed single malt whisky on a global basis. I decided it would be foolish not to pop in and have a look around.

On April 10 the The International Whisky Competition (IWC) closed its doors. It was being held in Chicago where a panel of six high profile whisky experts judged 47 whiskies that had been entered into the competition.
