Notable Facts: Mortlach is one of the Diageo malts that at the present time are only available as independent bottlings. There was a special bottling called Loch Dhu in 1996 which was a black single malt aimed at casual drinkers. Because of its dubious quality it did not catch on but it is now very much sought for by collectors.

While the nose is not too unpleasant – albeit a bit wierd – the taste pulls it down enormously. It tastes more like herbal bitter as Fernet Branca than like a whisky. To put it short: Crap. – Score: 15/100

This is sherry gone crazy, just too much of it in my opinion. The chemical nose puts me off as well. But I am sure some will love this dram. – Score: 75/100
