Bottlings
April 25, 2013
A divine combination of sherry flavours is somewhat compromised by a very dry and tannic mouthfeel. It was high time this was bottled. – Rating: 90/100
April 12, 2013
Some excellent “rancio” flavours and a near complete absence of wood tannins could have made this spectacular. But the finish feels a bit too shy to warrant a 90+ score. – Rating: 89/100

Sherry bombs are the speciality of Glendronach and this is no exception. Interestingly this is not as sweet as you might expect from a PX cask. It is not as complex as the oldies but delicious. – Rating: 86/100
January 26, 2013
Rather dominant nut flavours in here and not too much fruit, this is quite complex and a good dram to spend some time with. – Rating: 84/100
January 9, 2013
Quite a pleasant albeit not very complex daily dram on the sweet and fruity side. – Rating: 81/100
January 2, 2013
A quintessential sherry monster, old but not too woody, very rich with an emphasis on fruity flavours. – Rating: 91/100
May 13, 2012
Outstanding. Not too much wood, not too much spice, just enormously rich and complex yet full of elegance. – Rating: 93/100
May 8, 2012
Quite a nice combination of flavours, but the mouthfeel is slightly watery. Still a pretty good daily dram. – Rating: 82/100
May 8, 2012
If you don’t mind a pinch of sulphur, this is an excellent, deep and richly sherried malt for you. The wood is there but does not overpower it. – Rating: 87/100
February 27, 2012
The slight balsamic vinegar note makes this rich old whisky a slightly unusual but extremely enjoyable delight. – Rating: 92/100
February 27, 2012
Simply a first class sherry monster. – Rating: 92/100

There is obviously a little sulphur involved that manifests iself as smoked fish for me. Other maniacs didn’t like it quite as much, but I love this dram. – Rating: 93/100
January 31, 2011
This is not just a sherried whisky, this is a sherry whisky. I feel almost tempted to describe it as a 46% ABV oloroso but the whisky character is fully intact nonetheless. – Rating: 89/100
November 29, 2009
Heavily sherried with quite some tannins, but not really bitter. A great and very complex single malt. Because of the mothballing of Glendronach in 1996, in a few years time new batches will be older than 15 years. Keep an eye on it! – Score: 89/100

The main course of my Christmas dinner will feature a venison roast. To underlinine the Christmas character of the dish, it will be accompanied by a gingerbread sauce with a bit of dark chocolate. Preparation is fairly simple.
