Glen Grant The Major’s Reserve

October 26, 2010

Overall: This youngster just dosen’t cut it. It’s the cheapest single malt in competition with Loch Lomond at the price of a major brand blend. Actually I would recommend to stick to one of those like for example Teacher’s. – Rating: 62/100

Glen Grant 1972/2010 Whisky Doris

July 27, 2010

An amazing 38 year old malt that does not show its age very obviously. Almost entirely fruity and practically without wood notes. Highly enjoyable. – Rating: 88/100

Glen Grant 1990/2008 Signatory

September 22, 2009

A nice contrast between dried fruits in the nose and tropical fruits on the palate. Needs a good amount of water. Wood spice is a bit too dominant for my taste. – Score: 80/100

Glenfiddich is one of the biggest Scottish distilleries and it was the first one that actively marketed single malt whisky on a global basis. I decided it would be foolish not to pop in and have a look around.

The SWA Strikes Again

Every once in a while, the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) opens up a new battlefield because they see the traditional values of Scotch Whisky under attack. Examples include the lawsuit against the Glen Breton whisky from Canada or the threat against Compass Box.

Learn Whisky Marketing with LVMH #3 – The SMWS

November 11, 2009

Glenmorangie plc bought the SMWS just a few months before they sold everything to LVMH, plenty of room for speculations here. Anyway, what exactly is the SMWS?
