This really needs some water to fully open up. Then it turns from a rather generic dram into a pleasant experience. – Rating: 84/100

Not as fruity as the Double Wood, the second entry level bottling of Balvenie is more on the sweet and spicy side. It’s an enjoyable dram, but I prefer the former. – Rating: 82/100

This malt has got that “old-fashioned” taste you associate with sitting in a heavy leather chair in front of a warm fireplace. Very nice. – Rating: 87/100

A quite enjoyable malt, but that slight bitter note keeps it from being really good. Might be just that particular cask, though. – Rating: 84/100

This whisky has a marvelous nose, the palate is a bit weaker but still quite complex. Not at all “woody” despite the name. Very good return for the price. – Score: 86/100
