Littlemill 1992/2010 Dream Drams

May 21, 2011

This is a quite unusual malt with an interesting mixture of flavours. The first impression is rather strange, but it is thoroughly enjoyable if you you are a bit adventurous and don’t mind a little variation in your whisky menu. – Rating: 85/100

A smooth Lowland malt that is quite pleasant on the palate, but the finish is over much too soon. – Rating: 78/100

Rosebank 1991/2008 Cadenhead’s

A nice straightforward dram with a good balance of sweetness, fruit and spice, but certainly not one of the best Rosebanks out there. – Rating: 81/100

Light-bodied but pretty complex, a lot of freshness despite its age, this is a very nice Lowland malt. – Rating: 84/100

A very nice everyday dram, quite complex for “just a standard bottling”. – Score: 82/100

The nose suggests a rich fruitiness, but on the palate the malt becomes a bit too sour for my taste to be truly enjoyable. – Score: 81/100

Extremely complex and sophisticated. But for me it is very mood dependend. I had days where it tasted only “OK”, but on others it sent me to heaven. – Score: 92/100

I am not a big fan of herbal whiskies, but this one almost managed to convert me. The nose is spectacular but the palate doesn’t quite live up to it. Very light yet very complex. – Score: 86/100

A smooth and gentle dram, well-balanced flavours and rather complex for its age – Score: 84/100

G&M Reserve – 49% My Tasting Note Nose: Slightly smoky, caramel, leather, spices Palate: Ginger, tea, a bix waxy, “farmy”, some caramel and a touch of lemon Finish: Long with a bit of smoke Overall: They don’t make Lowlanders like this anymore. Very full-bodied, noticeably smoky and with a kind of earthy spicyness that is […]

The only good thing I can say about this expression is that it is discontinued. If you happen to find a bottle, avoid it! This is a perfect example of an NAS statement used to disguise immature whisky. – Score: 55/100

Very complex, you can find something different in every dram. But still not my favourite. – Score: 82/100

A peculiar grassy character that some may find to be not their taste. I quite enjoyed it although it’s not a real winner. – Score: 73/100
