Very strong wood aromas from toasted over aromatic to hot and spicy dominate this excellent whisky, any more and it would be too much. This was bottled just in time. – Rating: 87/100

Very spicy but still quite enjoyable, the mouthfeel is coating and a nice sweetness balances the spice. – Rating: 82/100

I am fairly immune to sulphur, but this special specimen just hurts my palate. – Rating: 47/100

Ledaig 1998/2010 Malts of Scotland

Some rather unusual flavours can be found here, this is a whisky with the potential of dividing opinions. But I can’t make up my mind which side to take. – Rating: 83/100

Tobermory 1995/2011 Aberdeen Distillers

The nose is actually pretty nice. You may consider to smell on this malt only. – Rating: 74/100

For a sherry finish this malt is a bit feeble. The overall character is pretty nice but it could benefit from a little more oomph. – Rating: 74/100

There is not much to find in this whisky. It is mostly sweet on the palate with a light fruitiness, the nose is disappointing. – Rating: 65/100

Ledaig 9yo 2001/2011 Whisky Doris

January 9, 2012

The flavour profile of this malt is a little generic, but evertything is harmonizing very well. – Rating: 87/100

Ledaig 2005/2010 Berry Bros.

August 31, 2011

Fast maturation does not only happen in tropical climates. With the right cask even a Scotch can become a cracker of a dram in only four years. This whisky is a peaty flavour bomb. – Rating: 88/100

Ledaig 10 yo

Well, it’s certainly an interesting whisky, but this combination of flavours does not really convince me. – Rating: 74/100

Tobermory 1972/2008 Whisky-Doris

February 27, 2010

Very complex and concentrated, the lightly peated sherry fruitiness reminds me a bit of Bowmore. Wood tannins are surely there after 35 years, but not overwhelmingly strong. – Score: 88/100

Tobermory 1995/2007 Murray McDavid

August 2, 2009

Very enjoyable if you like finishes. I doubt that much of the distilery character is preserved, but it doesn’t taste bad at all. – Score: 82/100
