Definitely an improvement over the older version. It has full flavours and a strong body, the spices are quite prominent, though. Needs a bit of water. – Rating: 85/100

Sharp alcohol and rather strong spice hit your palate, the rest of flavours can barely keep up. – Rating: 80/100

Arran Machrie Moor Batch 2

The profile is slightly unusual but not unpleasant, with less smoke on the palate than on the nose. Overall this dram is less ferocious than the packaging suggests. – Rating: 83/100

Arran 2001/2012 Bourbon Cask 808

Quite a shy and secluded whisky overall, a dram for those who like their whisky very subtle. – Rating: 81/100

Arran Orkney Bere 2004/2012

Surprisingly mature for its young age, this is an excellent example how using an ancient barley variety not designed for high yield can shorten maturation time. – Rating: 85/100

Arran 12 yo 1999/2012 Single Cask Nation

Not really the aromas you would expect from a pinot noir cask, but this does not devalue this dram at all. Good fruit and nice spice, well balanced and enjoyable. – Rating: 85/100

Arran The Eagle

Very mild and gentle, almost timid, it really needs a few drops of water to open up a little. Probably the most delicate dram of the Icons of Arran series. – Rating: 82/100

Arran Madeira Cask

Especially the nose is very madeira-like, the palate is both sweet and rather spicy. A very dominant finish that may be a bit too hefty for some, but I quite like it. – Rating: 82/100

Brewdog Paradox Isle of Arran

A very rich stout, perhaps a bit too much on the bitter side for my taste but very flavour-intensive. You wouldn’t guess the whisky connection though because it blends very smoothly with the beer. – Rating: 82/100

Arran 100 Proof

This malt has lots of youthful bite but does not offer a great deal of interesting flavours. Bottled way too young for my taste. – Rating: 70/100

Arran Peacock

June 7, 2010

A very well done vatting of bourbon and sherry casks, richly flavoured and entirely enjoyable. – Rating: 86/100

Arran Rowan Tree

Quite different from the Peacock, obviously more sherry casks were used for this edition. A good malt, but I prefer the fruitier character of the Peacock. – Rating: 83/100

Quite a nice dram, but doesn’t possess much to remember, nice to just sip away – Score: 78/100
