The herbal peatiness makes for quite an unusual whisky style with the wood remaining very much in the background. It tastes quite odd on the first sip but it grows on you and greatly benefits from a splash of water. – Rating: 86/100

Ardmore 1991/2013 Rum Barrel Malts of Scotland

March 12, 2015

If you expected a sweet elixir, you will be disappointed. This whisky is very elegant, a mix of peat and fruit with a just light sweetness. – Rating: 87/100

Ardmore 2003/2010 Whisky & Rhum

This malt makes no secret of its young age. The youthful roughness is not complemented by an awful lot of flavour, though. – Rating: 79/100

Ardmore 1992/2011 The Whisky Agency

March 21, 2012

This is an unusally gently peated Ardmore, not particularly breathtaking but nice and sippable, especially as an aperitive dram. – Rating: 83/100

The enticing fruitiness of the nose does not fully translate onto the palate. It tastes quite nice but even with water there is a sharp edge to it. – Rating: 83/100

After a great nose, the palate of this peated Speyside malt trails a bit behind as the fruit has lost some of its influence. Still a very nice dram, though. – Rating: 83/100

Ardmore 1993/2005 Douglas Laing

March 5, 2010

A bit similar to the Benriach Heavily Peated, but doesn’t quite reach it. Still a very nice peated Speysider, though. – Score: 84/100
