Laphroaig 10 yo Cask Strength Batch 007

by Oliver Klimek on June 5, 2015

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Dark amber
Nose: Peat smoke and fresh sea air, the typical Laphroaig “hospital” phenols need some time to develop, cloves, hints of camphor, nutmeg and pepper.
Palate: Strong and dry peat, liquorice, vanilla, hints of grapefruit and lemon, many smoky and woody notes that are not easily separated , cloves, nutmeg and pepper .
Finish: Very long, spicy and phenolic.
Overall: After my recent disappointment with the current regular 10 yo I am happy to report that Laphroaig is back to old (cask) strength here. It may not be the most complex of batches, but it perfectly captures what has gone missing in so many recent bottlings of this distillery.

Rating: 88/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

Is there a difference between the 005 CS, 006 CS, and 007 CS? I have the first two, but haven’t opened them yet. I’m wondering if I should also get the 007, in case it’s vastly different. Thanks
