Port Ellen 1982/2013 Malts of Scotland

by Oliver Klimek on May 10, 2015

Sherry Hogshead 13006 – 59.5%

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Dark amber
Nose: Blackberries, bacon, hints of coal smoke and oily rags, cocoa, tobacco, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Palate: Dry peat, mixed forest berries, dark chocolate, black pepper, wood tannins.
Finish: Long, fruity, dry and smoky.
Overall: While the nose is fantastic and incredibly complex, the wood has already begun to take over the palate. It still is a very good whisky but not quite good enough to break the 90 point barrier.

Rating: 89/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$
