Benriach 15 yo PX Finish

by Oliver Klimek on January 4, 2015

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Dark amber
Nose: Waxed oak, dried pineapple, dried figs, cherry wine gums, hint of nutmeg and a whiff of attic dust.
Palate: Cherries, sweet raisins, light toffee, hints of custard, nutmeg, hints of pepper and quite some wood tannins.
Finish: Long, dry and fruity.
Overall: This is no in-your-face finish, the PX sherry remains a bit in the background. The wood is pronounced but not overwhelming and makes the whisky appear older than it is.

Rating: 87/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

Hi Oliver

I love these BenRiachs; all 46%, NCF and natural colour. Have you tried the 12 year old matured in sherry casks? I hear it is also very good.
