My Tasting Notes:
Colour: Medium gold
Nose: Light briny smoke, stewed apples, bergamote oil, vanilla, hints of thyme and cloves, white pepper.
Palate: Mild peat, baked apples with sea salt caramel, orange zest, grapefruit, vanilla, cloves and pepper.
Finish: Long, fruity and spicy.
Overall: The apple flavours are a perfect match for the briny Springbank house style. Even though the whisky has matured in Calvados casks for 6 years, the distillery character is not overpowered in any way.
