My Tasting Notes:
Colour: Dark amber
Nose: Orange and banana sprinkled with white balsamic vinegar, raisins on polished wood, strong “rancio” notes, toasted almonds, focused and complex at the same time.
Palate: Earl Grey tea with orange zest, pineapple, mango, faint hints of thyme and eucalyptus, .
Finish: Very long, dry and fruity with a whiff of smoke.
Overall: There are not many Speyside distilleries that have such old stock, I still will refrain from a guess. Many layers of flavours can be explored in this wonderful whisky. Wood is always present but it never gets in the way of the tropical fruits that act as base flavours. And it costs far less than other previously launched whiskies of similar age.
