“Aquavite di Cereali” – Around 15 months old, matured in wine and marsala casks – 43%
My Tasting Notes:
Colour: Reddish gold
Nose: Strong and slightly pungent. Limoncello, stewed apples, strawberries, vanilla, hints of baby vomit, crushed pepper
Palate: Candied citrus, a grappa-like fruitiness, malty caramel, vanilla, strong pepper.
Finish: Rather short, fruity and spicy.
Overall: Of course you can notice that this is a very young spirit, but the strong cask influence takes away some of the newmake character. It is not unpleasant at all, but indeed “Grain Eau de Vie” fits it much better than “Whisky”
