Balmenach 32 yo 1979/2012 Maltbarn

by Oliver Klimek on May 12, 2013

Bourbon barrel – 53.1%

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Medium amber
Nose: Honey, apricots, butterscotch, polished wood, toasted almonds, hints of liquorice.
Palate: Honey, dried apricots, banana, a hint of mint, nutmeg, green tea, hints of pepper, slightly waxy mouthfeel.
Finish: Long, fruity and spicy.
Overall: It has a nice old-style touch to it but the driness combined with the spices covers the lovely fruit aromas quite a bit.

Rating: 86/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

Scored blind for the Malt Maniacs Awards 2012 where it won a bronze medal, re-tasted for notes
