Lagavulin 12 yo Cask Strength 2011 Release

by Oliver Klimek on May 6, 2013

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Dark straw
Nose: Wood smoke, vanilla, hints of honey, lemon zest, cloves and pepper.
Palate: Sweet peat, vanilla, lemon zest, banana, hinfs of fudge, cloves, nutmeg and a little pepper.
Finish: Long, fruity and smoky.
Overall: This is a bit unusual in a way that it feels rather naked compared to the standard releases. It is not particularly complex but smoothness and sippability are outstanding, even undiluted.

Rating: 88/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

Scored blind for the Malt Maniacs Awards 2012 where it won a silver medal, re-tasted for notes
