The Dramming.com Whisky Survey

by Oliver Klimek on May 5, 2013

Please note that the survey will close on 30th September!

In the past this blog featured a series of whisky-related polls, just like some other blogs do as well. While small one-question polls certainly are a nice and interesting thing, they do not tell very much about the big picture.

So here is what may be the first thorough online survey about whisky from an independent source. It consists of  23 questions from basic demograhpics to whisky preferences and personal involvement in the whisky world.

The usual words of caution apply. By its very nature, this survey is not representative because it only addresses whisky drinkers active on the internet. Results may also be skewed by the fact that the usual reader base of this blog is more on the geek than on the casual side of whisky enjoyment. This is why you are encouraged to share this as widely as possible, in order to make the base as wide as possible. Apart fom general curiosity in the outcome, it would not be very surprising if also the whisky industry or the whisky trade had some interest in the results of such a survey. A participation in the four digits would be highly welcome.

In addition to the 23 general questions there are 6 questions especially for bloggers. Some readers might remember that about two years ago I started a specialized whisky blogging survey. Unfortunately the participation was a bit disappointing, and combined with the fact that more and more whisky blogs have been launched the data would not have been very useful. This is why I decided not to pursue this effort any further. I am convinced many more bloggers will take the survey now, the whisky blogging scene has evolved quite a bit since then. You don’t need to be blogging 100% about whisky to participate here. Also if you have a regularly updated whisky website that is not technically a blog but similar in content you are more than welcome to join in.

The survey is hosted on a third-party platform that makes it easy to create simple surveys. You will be presented with an advertisment at the end which you may safely ignore. A few more delicate questions have a “no comment option”, there are no mandatory questions and of course the survey is completely anonymous. There is just a cookie set in order to prevent repeated uses by the same person.

There is no set ending date, but expect the survey to be accessible several months. Please participate only, if you have at least a minimum interest in whisky. If you cannot stand that stuff, give it a miss.

This way to the survey

Disclaimer: There are no commercial interests involved in this survey whatsoever. The results will be published on this blog in due time after closing.
