Benriach 27 yo 1984/2012 Cask 4050

by Oliver Klimek on April 20, 2013

Hogshead, tawny port finish – 52.2%

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Copper
Nose: Bacon, wood smoke, cherries, plums, balsamic vinegar, old oak, cardamom and nutmeg.
Palate: Mild peat, morello cherries, sweet plums, just a drop of balsamic vinegar, dark fudge, mixed mild splices.
Finish: Very long, fruity, spicy and smoky.
Overall: This whisky is pure delight. Who said that sherry and peat doesn’t work?

Rating: 92/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

Scored blind for the Malt Maniacs Awards 2012 where it won a gold medal, re-tasted for notes
