Tomintoul 45 yo 1967/2012 Exclusive Malts

by Oliver Klimek on April 18, 2013

For – Refill hogshead 6579 – 48.9%

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Dark amber
Nose: Apricots, cantaloupe melon, waxed wood, vanilla, butterscotch, hints of nutmeg.
Palate: Melons, mango, apricots, lemon, vanilla, strong Earl Grey tea, nutmeg and hints of pepper, quite tannic overall.
Finish: Rather long, dry and fruity.
Overall: The fruity flavours in this old malt are outstanding, but the tannic wood notes are on the verge of getting out of control.

Rating: 84/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

Scored blind for the Malt Maniacs Awards 2012 where it won a bronze medal, re-tasted for notes
