Blackadder Peat Reek 13 yo

by Oliver Klimek on January 4, 2013

Hogshead 2012/1 – 61.5%

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Bright gold
Nose: Very strong smoke from a badly vented firepalce enrobes seaweed, vanilla, pepper and a little fruit.
Palate: Strong peat, vanilla, lime, just hints of mixed other fruits, green tea, ginger and pepper.
Finish: Long, dry and smoky.
Overall: This whisky is aptly named. It’s all about peat here, mainly on the nose but also on the palate. The other aromas only act as ‘garnish’ but this works surprsingly well.

Rating: 86/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

Scored blind for the Malt Maniacs Awards 2012 where it won a bronze medal, re-tasted for notes.
