Book of Kells series for La Maison du Whisky – Cask 592 – 48.3%
My Tasting Notes:
Colour: Dark chestnut
Nose: Black cherries, prunes, dried figs, dark chocolate, old polished oak, hints of cigar tobacco, cinnamon and cardamom.
Palate: Prunes, cassis, blackberries, tobacco, darker chocolate than on the nose, cinnamon, rather tannic overall.
Finish: Long, fruity and quite dry.
Overall: The nose of this very rich whisky is wonderful. On the palate and in the finish there is a bit too much wood for my taste
Rating: 87/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$
Scored blind for the Malt Maniacs Awards 2012 where it won a gold medal, re-tasted for notes.
