Sherry cask 9011 – 64%
My Tasting Notes:
Colour: Bright amber
Nose: Sweet raisins, overcooked eggs, light smoke, liquorice and cloves.
Palate: A blanket of sweet peat, raisins, honey and cloves barely covering a bed of partly green egg yolks.
Finish: Long, peaty and sweet, giving way to old eggs.
Overall: I am fairly immune to sulphur, but this special specimen just hurts my palate.
Rating: 47/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$
Scored blind for the Malt Maniacs Awards 2012, re-tasted for notes.
Note: This whisky actually won a bronze medal at the Malt Maniac Awards 2012 with an 81 point average. So you may actually like it, but the egg tang I notice is something I can’t take.
