Aultmore Batch 1 – That Boutique-y Whisky Company

by Oliver Klimek on November 22, 2012

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Dark amber
Nose: Vanilla, toffee, lemon zest, toasted almonds, nutmeg and cloves.
Palate: Mixed nuts, vanilla, light toffee, hints of lemon and grapefruit, nutmeg, cloves and pepper.
Finish: Long, fruity and spicy.
Overall: A nice combination of nutty and fruity flavours with quite some wood spice, powerful on the palate but light in body.

Rating: 84/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

Interesting take on this one, Oliver. I’m going to have to revisit it – my initial impression was that it was fairly (and to my palate, disagreeably) young. Reminded me of some less compelling Glenrothes I’ve had.

It certainly is rather young than old. But I quite liked it.
