Blend of pot still and coffey still malt whisky – 40%
My Tasting Notes:
Colour: Dark amber
Nose: Stewed apples, raisins, honey, banana, wood polish, nutmeg, cardamom.
Palate: Honey, raisins, banana, less apples than the nose, hints of tinned pineapple, vanilla fudge, cardamom and some pepper.
Finish: Long, fruity and slightly spicy.
Overall: This Japanese dram may have an unusual pedigree but is impossible to discern from a fruity Scotch single malt. The mouthfeel is creamy but rather light bodied and the flavours are well balanced.
