Caol Ila 23 yo 1978 Rare Malts

by Oliver Klimek on June 24, 2012

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Gold
Nose: Dead fireplace, vanilla, lemon zest, hints of smoked ham, ginger and pepper.
Palate: Peat, mixed citrus fruit, mango, vanilla, liquorice, candied ginger, pepper.
Finish: Very long, fruity and smoky.
Overall: Unusually fruity and rather sweet for a Caol Ila, but it works perfectly well.

Rating: 91/100 – no price information as this is a collector’s bottle
