Port Ellen 1983/2011 Malts of Scotland

by Oliver Klimek on June 8, 2012

Bourbon hogshead 11011 – 58.9%

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Straw
Nose: Fresh oysters, vanilla, cloves, lemon zest, ashes in the fireplace.
Palate: Mild peat, lime, vanilla, candy floss, cloves, liquorice and hints of pepper.
Finish: Long, smoky and spicy.
Overall: A very light and subtle Port Ellen that needs a little time to open up, a style that its not too prominent on Islay anymore.

Rating: 87/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

Scored blind for the Malt Maniacs Awards 2011 – Re-tasted for notes
