Madeira cask – 40%
My Tasting Notes:
Colour: Dark amber
Nose: Raisins, poached pears, orange zest, fudge, cinnamon, hints of polished wood.
Palate: Graisins, grape must, caramel, orange marmalade, cinnamon and hints of pepper.
Finish: Long, fruity and spicy.
Overall: A very nice creamy and fruity whisky, rich in flavours but could benefit from a few more ABV points.
Rating: 84/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

I understand why Glenfiddich bottles their standard line whiskies at 40%. However, you’ve got to think that they could bump things up a bit for their special releases, which are mostly going to be purchased by people who want a bit more from their whisky. Their Distillery Edition in particular showed just how good it can be when they bottle at a decent ABV.
I fully agreee. More and more distilleries are giving a little more punch to their higher end bottlings now, and I hope Glenfiddich will recognize the sign of the times
HAS to be bottled at 46%.
