Glen Grant 59 yo 1952 Gordon & Macphail

by Oliver Klimek on May 22, 2012

The Dram Takers – Cask 1134 – 49.2%

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Medium amber
Nose: Apples, butterscotch, vanilla, mixed tropical fruit, waxed oak, nutmeg, a whiff of slightly tarry smoke.
Palate: Apples, grapefruit, pineapple, butterscotch, hints of peppermint, ginger and pepper, lots of tannins.
Finish: Very long, fruity, very dry and slightly smoky.
Overall: It has a nose to die for as well as many lovely flavours on the palate, but the very adstringent ‘woody’ mouthfeel is detrimental.

Rating: 87/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

Scored blind for the Malt Maniacs Awards 2011 – Re-tasted for notes
