Jim Beam Devil’s Cut

by Oliver Klimek on May 15, 2012

Made partly with bourbon extracted from emptied barrels – 45%

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Dark amber
Nose: Quite strong. Vanilla, burnt sugar, wood polish, orange zest, hints of paint thinner, cinnamon.
Palate: Caramel, dried apricots, banana, honey, cinnamon, hints of nutmeg and black pepper, somewhat bitter.
Finish: Medium long, sweet, fruity and spicy.
Overall: Rather strong flavours in this special bourbon, but there is a bitterness that puts me off somewhat. The finish is a bit weak as well. It does its job quite well in mixed drinks like the old fashioned, though.

Rating: 73/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$
