Mortlach 1987/1995 Cadenhead’s

by Oliver Klimek on September 25, 2011

My Tasting Notes

Colour: Straw
Nose: Vanilla, lemon zest, pick and mix sweet shop, polished wood, ginger and nutmeg.
Palate: Apple, hints of banana, vanilla, lemon zest, hazelnuts, ginger, nutmeg and black pepper.
Finish:  Long, fruity and spicy.
Overall: As could be expected, this young bourbon cask Mortlach is not really typical, but it is a very nice malt anyway. A single digit age is not a problem at all here.

Rating: 83/100 –No price information as this is a collector’s bottle

This year I really enjoyed different independent expressions of Mortlach… I would like to taste this one, too. Will be on my list…

It will probably not be easy to find it because it’s quite an old bottling

If you can believe it I know of a liquor store that has had 4 of these on it’s shelves all of these years. I picked up one to taste and will probably go get the rest of them. $60
