Matured for 5 years in India and 18 months on Helgoland – Cask 2868 – 62.4%
My Tasting Notes
Colour: Bright amber
Nose: Liquorice, butterscotch and nutmeg lead on, after a while a slight fruitiness joins in.
Palate: Pretty sharp neat, definitely needs some water. Liquorice, butterscotch, banana, apples, nutmeg, cloves and pepper.
Finish: Long, spicy, a bit sweet and slightly fruity.
Overall: Spices are the main attraction of this malt, underlined by sweetness and fruit. Does the additional island maturation make a difference? I am still not sure. But good whisky it is.
