Batch SI 16 009 – 55.3%
My Tasting Notes
Colour: Bright gold
Nose: Raisins, banana, nuts, honey, vanilla, hints of nutmeg and freshly cut wood.
Palate: Toasted hazelnuts, honey, banana, sweet grapes, vanilla fudge, nutmeg and hints of pepper.
Finish: Very long, fruity and mildly spicy.
Overall: An excellent lightly sherried malt that nonchalantly manages to do the splits between complexity and ease of drinking.
Score: 87/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

Thanks for the review. Did you go for the Scapa and Genburgie as well? I’ve had Glenburgie in this series before, so this time went for the Strathisla and Scapa… but haven’t tried either yet. So I’m glad that the Strathisla gets the thumbs up.
I really like this series from Chivas… a chance to try to official, limited edition, cask strength, non-chill fil whiskies from lesser-known distilleries, and 50cl saves you having to slog through a whole normal-sized bottle. Samples are too small, 70cl too big for when you want to taste distilleries that are new to you.
This was the bottle I won at the whisky quiz, so I could not try the other bottlings.
