Although it is very sweet, this liquer also offeres a range or rather intensive flavours. If you like it sweet and orangey, this bottle is the right choice for you. – Rating: 79/100

Bunnahabhain 1974/2009 A.D. Rattray

November 27, 2010

Light and gentle but yet pretty complex. You need to give this dram some time, but it turns out to be very enjoyable. The high age of this malt as well as the Islay provenance are not really noticaeable. – Rating: 84/100

Rosebank 1991/2008 Cadenhead’s

November 26, 2010

A nice straightforward dram with a good balance of sweetness, fruit and spice, but certainly not one of the best Rosebanks out there. – Rating: 81/100

Time to take on another hot topic which seems to be the worst nightmare of many maltheads – sulphur. But there is also a small minority who appreciate those special aromas.

A marvelous dram for relaxing on a cold evening. This one has got it all: Peat, smoke, fruit, sweetness, spice. The best value of the HP standard range. – Rating: 90/100

Port Charlotte An Turas Mor

November 19, 2010
Thumbnail image for Port Charlotte An Turas Mor

This is the first Port Charlotte bottled at drinking strength. It’s noticeably lighter bodied with a rather gentle and almost delicate character compared to the earlier “heavy duty” PC bottlings. – Rating: 85/100

Connemara Turf Mor

November 18, 2010
Thumbnail image for Connemara Turf Mor

The dry fruityness of the Connemara peat monster is something very unique. Amazingly complex, very young, yet it cannot be called immature. But it might be too much for some. – Rating: 87/100

November 15, 2010
Thumbnail image for Guest Post – An Overview of American Craft Distilling

There is a revolution in distilling taking place in America. The craft distillers are starting to draw attention, and not all of it positive. Most of the bottles come with a steep price tag, so how is a malt-head to know what to make of it all?

Thumbnail image for Hazelburn 12 yo 2010

The new version is lighter and more floral that the 2009 release. Unfortunately it has lost some of the richness and complexity, so overall I prefer last’s years edition. – Rating: 84/100

New Poll: Dramming at the Computer

November 9, 2010

The new poll has bit of an unusual topic, but I do think it’s worth asking the question if you like a dram of whisky along with your ventures in the internet.

A very rich and creamy Irish whiskey with an abundance of sweet and fruity flavours. The low bottling strength of 40% is to blame that a place in the Top Dram list is missed. – Rating: 89/100
