Macallan SMWS 24.111

by Oliver Klimek on September 21, 2010

13 yo – First fill sherry butt – “Ginger beer and pickled walnuts” – 59.7%

My Tasting Notes:

Colour: Bright gold
Nose: Ginger and nuts are present, water brings out mixed spices and citrus notes.
Palate: Caramel, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, lime, a hint of pepper.
Finish: Long and spicy.
Overall: A quite unusual but very enjoyable Macallan most probably from a Fino sherry cask. The richness in aromatic spice flavours is well balanced with fresh citrus notes.

Rating: 85/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

Kinda funny. From what I’ve read on your blog, I somehow had the feeling you could like this dram too, but I had no idea that you already had tried it. That review must have slipped by ;)

Slowly savoring what’s left of the bottle… This is my kind of Macallan, I mean, #24… ;)
