My Tasting Notes:
Colour: Bright amber
Nose: Fresh and maritime, seaweed at the beach, smoke, disinfectant, vanilla and spices.
Palate: Peat, liquorice, cloves, grapefruit, slightly salty but also somewhat sweet.
Finish: Very long and medicinal
Overall: One of the Islay classics, this competitively priced malt has an astonishing complexity. But the recent reduction of bottling strength from 43% to 40% didn’t do it a favour. It feels just a tad too watery on the palate.
