18 yo – 46%
My Tasting Notes:
Colour: Rich amber
Nose: Prunes in Armagnac, chocolate, hints of tobacco, oak and old leather.
Palate: Dry, orange zest, ripe berries, nutmeg and many many more.
Finish: Very long and dry, with a whiff of smoke at the end.
Overall: I like it just as much as the Glenfarclas 17 , but it is very different. The gorgeous fruitiness of the 17yo is replaced by a tightly woven network of complex but subtle flavours that make this whisky a delight to enjoy drop by drop. There is a distinct woody dryness but it is not overpowering the other flavours.
