Whisky Recipe: Glenfarclas Fruit Cocktail

Well, perhaps it’s a bit of an exaggeration to call it “recipe”, but it sure is tasty and I am happy to share it with you.

Ingredients (serves 6):

1 kg of your favourite mixed fruits
100 g Sultanas
A generous measure of Glenfarclas 17
Lemon or lime juice
Sugar or liquid honey


Put the sultanas in a small bowl and cover with Glenfarclas 17. Cover the bowl and let soak overnight.

Cut the fruits into bite sized pieces and place in a large bowl. Add the sultanas and the whisky to the fruit mixture. Add sugar or honey and lemon/lime juice and mix well. Let rest for another hour.

For additional enjoyment, the cocktail can be served with vanilla ice cream and/or whipped cream. But then you might feel like adding a little more “whisky sauce”.

The choice of fruit depends on your personal taste, but it is preferrable to select fruit with a decent grade of natural sweetness. I don’t think that sour apples or  oranges would work well. And I would also be careful with tropical fruit like mango, pineapple or passion fruit because they don’t match the character of the Glenfarclas very well in my opinion. I went with banana and Galia melon and it turned out to be very nice.

The amounts of sugar/honey and lemon/lime juice needed greatly depend on the sugar content of your fruit, so it is better to be careful first and add more of either if necessary.
