Suntory Yamazaki 12 yo

by Oliver Klimek on March 9, 2010

The famous single malt from Japan – 43%

My Tasting Notes:

Color: Dark amber
Nose: Dried tropical fruit, mainly pineapple and banana, honey, minimally smoky
Palate: Tropical fruit, vanilla, a bit of smoke, pepper, nutmeg
Finish: Long, first fruity, then smoky
Overall: A delicately balanced mix of fruit, smoke and spice. Sophisticated but still not too complex for casual sipping. Very good.

Score: 85/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$

i am so glad u like it oliver. this is a brilliant malt. those japs can do everything. including amazing malt.
i do think it has a unique “color” of aroma to it.
i’ve reviewed it here in comparison to the older 18 year old.

Yes I’ve already heard lots of good things about the Yamazaki 18. I will certainly try to get hold of a sample.

do try. it’s very good. but – the extra $$$ i dont know if it’s worth it.
i’d prefer to stash my $$ on HP 18 which kicks Yamazaki 18 ass any day.
when u do try it, let me know how u liked it. i only had a sample too.
